Abstract

The internet of things in today's modern era is starting to be widely used in various fields, making almost all electronic devices connected and able to communicate via the internet. Along with these developments, it is necessary to pay attention to the use of IOT in agriculture, especially the need for maintenance and monitoring of plants in order to make it easier for plant owners. Until now, watering plants is still done conventionally by coming directly to the field with water, this requires a lot of energy. Especially if the home owner forgets to water the plants before traveling, it can cause the plants to wilt and even die. To overcome this in this study, an automatic plant watering system was designed that is connected to the internet with monitoring tools that can be monitored via WhatsApp, so that users can monitor soil moisture levels in their plants anywhere and anytime. This system is designed using NodeMCU as the system control center, soil moisture sensor, mini submersible water pump, relay. In dry soil conditions the water pump will turn on and when the soil conditions are damp or wet the pump will not turn on, and there is a backup pump as a replacement if the main pump has a problem. The result is that this system can help plant owners monitor soil moisture in plants and assist with watering. Kata kunci — Arduino, ESP8266, WhatsApp, IOT, Mikrokontroler.
