Abstract

Tomato is a plant that can grow anywhere, but in its growth need a lot of water. The level of soil moisture also needs to be considered, summer causes level of water in the soil decrease and inhibits the growth of tomatoes. The development of the Internet of Things can be utilized in the process of automatic watering of tomato plants, to monitor the level of soil moisture and temperature through connected devices. The prototype of this plant sprinkler uses WeMos D1 Mini microcontroller. This prototype uses Visual Studio Code platform with PlatformIO IDE extension as a support for the work of the tool. It used soil moisture sensor, DS18B20 temperature sensor, TIP41 transistor as an electric circuit breaker, motor pump and blynk application as a monitor for soil moisture levels. The results showed the prototype tool can flush water on plants if the soil moisture read by soil moisture is below 30% and the air temperature read by DS18B20 is above 30 °C. If one of the conditionsis does not met such as soil moisture above 60% or air temperature below 30 °C, then the transistor will not send a signal to the pump to carry out watering automatically.
