Abstract

Gas plays a very important role in human life. The use of gas has several positive impacts. Gas, when used as fuel, has high efficiency in generating heat, thus enhancing the effectiveness of heat production and reducing energy consumption. However, the use of gas also has several negative aspects that need to be considered. One main risk is the inflammable nature of gas. In case of leaks or misuse, gas can lead to potentially harmful fires or explosions that can endanger both humans and the environment. Therefore, one form of technological development within the IoT is the home security system. This device functions as a monitor for home conditions and provides automatic protection in case of undesired events, such as gas leaks.The purpose of this research is to design a gas leak detection device that provides information through notification messages via Telegram. The methods and procedures employed in this research involve the selection of software and hardware equipment, data collection, system design, system development, system testing, and report preparation. The results of testing this device using a gas sensor as the leak detection medium show that the device functions well and operates as intended. The notification works properly, sending a message "Gas leak detected, gas level = 1637.85 Ppm" to Telegram when a gas leak surpasses a certain predetermined threshold.
